Thanks to all of you who came up to help and to those who were there in spirit to get some work accomplished in the Stinson. We accomplished a lot. It is now ready for primer and paint. Once this is done the reassembly process can begin.

I picked these up at Oshkosh this week.
Franklin Engine Overhaul
$10,000.00 plus a measly $1,500.00 to replace the light case. Pocket change, right?
The mechanic charges 500.00 tear down and inspection and 2500.00 for reassemble. He also does most of his magna fluxing and zygloing etc. in house. He has a fair charge for that. The cylinder overhaul will run 500.00 x 6 so that 3000.00 additional.

New Tires
Gotta love that new tire smell. Two new tires for the Stinson.

Getting ready to replace the tires and tubes and get the wheels overhauled. It’s nice to work at a place that can do that for me.

Carburetor Continued….
The carb has the housing and air box attached. However, there’s an Airworthiness Directive out on the carb that has you change the throat box and this one doesn’t have it.
The first photo shows it mounted on the engine.

Found this on Ebay for $20. Doesn’t look like much but it’s important. Circled in red below New is $95

Found a Marvel MA-4-5 carb for the Franklin engine.
Propeller
Clear prop! A used, but in great shape, and hard to find, McCauley model 1A170-DM.
