Interior Color

I’ve really struggled with the interior color. It was originally blue but also was red at some time. I started out with red but have changed my mind back to blue. No big deal really.

The last photo is without a flash and shows the true blue color. The second  ashtray photo is without a flash.

The inspection covers were stapled on. I removed the staple and installed some tinnermann nuts and B screws

Horizontal Stab

Some corrosion on the stab necessitated the removal of some rivets and replaced with some new. Still hoping I don’t have to replace the top skin.

new rivets in place

Old rivets drilled out and new ones going in.

Corroded and missing rivet heads.

Air Compressor

My air compressor was popping my circuit breaker so I ran a 230v outlet to the garage, re-wired the motor to 230v, changed the cord, and now it’s on a 40 amp breaker but pulls half the current. Now I can paint and sand with no interruptions.

Horizontal Stab Paint Removal

I found a source for some biodegradable non toxic paint remover. I tried it on the vertical stab and it worked great.  Now I’m trying it on this. So far so good. You have to leave it on for 12-15 hours and it takes it right down to the aluminum.  You can rinse it off with a garden hose and let it go down the drain.

See the photos for a example.
