Removed the fuel sender to replace the gasket. Checked the sender using an ohm meter to check for resistant change. . Cleaned the tank mounting edge. Cleaned the tank to fuselage grounding strap. Lots done.

Looked kind of nasty to start with didn’t it? Looked like some residue around the sensor too, was this a red flag for residue inside the tank as well? Probably part of the restoration to clean the inside of the tank anyway, I suspect!
