Doesn’t look like much but it’ll keep me busy over the weekend. Wires for the COMM/GPS, Transponder, and altitude encoder.

…inking the labels.

Before photo of the panel

After lots of polishing and cleaning, plus inking the labels. Now it’s in the oven to dry the ink.

Up close view of the inking and polishing. It’s not brand new but 70 years of oxidation and exposure leaves pitting.
I removed the bezel, cleaned, and repainted it. I also replaced the very used ENT and CLR buttons. It looks a bit better now.

It’s nice when you power it up for the first time in the airplane and it doesn’t smoke. It’s even better when it finds satellites and shows you exactly where you are.

A relative of Marie’s builds airplane models from scratch. He made one for me. When I’m 90 years old I’d like to be as active as Lawrence.

Here’s the final polish.

Practicing polishing up my yoke covers. These are extra covers. Stripping the paint now to redo the rest. The polishing came out fine though hard to see in the photos.

Just have to wire them up now. Comm/GPS in top and the transponder on the bottom.

The absence of a post hasn’t meant I have stopped working on it. Just no good pictures to put up. I sent my panel and radios down to our Florida avionics shop to install the radios. They will do a much better job than me as they have all the tools to do it right.
