$.02 washer

I held up the fuel tank installation because of a $.02 washer I didn’t have. I could have used the original washer, but in the interest of replacing as much of the original hardware as possible, I ordered the $.02 washer and received it today. So now I can finish up the tank installation. Yes, I ordered several parts, not just the one washer.

Wire #37

I almost forgot to hook up wire #37. Thats’s the wire from the fuel sensor to the wing root. That wouldn’t have been fun to connect after I installed the tank. Although there is an inspection hole there I would have had to cut it out.

Wire #37 circled in red from my electrical drawings.

Fuel Cap

I stuck my snake camera into the tank and it’s surprisingly clean inside. Still , I will wash it out.

I need to flatten the flange before installing the new gasket. Bill Carter has a nice mod for this, but it’s $300 a set.
Neck and cap cleaned and zinc plated. New cap gasket and cap chain pin. Tank gasket on its way. For my records, the pin is an AN416-2. Tank gasket is RG-108. Fuel cap gasket is 108-1121112.
I need to pop out the big dents yet. I have a kit, just need to use it.

Fuel Tank

Cleaning the exterior of the port fuel tank. This small project took all weekend from the first photo to the last. I did do a few other things in between.
