Started with installing the propeller for good. At least until I buy a wooden prop.

Also, started installing the headliner. Didn’t finish it as I need some clips to help hold it up while I get it installed.

Checking the blades for running true. Only part of this process was captured.

Too busy this weekend to do much on the Stinson. Next weekend will be nicer and we will try to finish up a lot of items on my list. I didn’t take any photos, but Marie did.

Checklist for Completing the Rebuild

Remaining steps left to finish the Stinson:

  • Install the interior
  • Replace a cowling fastener cup on the right rear of the bottom cowling
  • Install the rubber trim pieces around landing gear and wing fillets
  • Finish repairing the right wheel pant and then paint it
  • Install the wheel pants and fairings
  • Finish the windshield installation by sealing around the edges
  • Cover and Install the glare shield
  • Finish sealing the two rear teardrop windows
  • Finish the pilot’s side, slider window installation
  • Permanently install the Propeller
  • Complete an Annual Inspection on the airframe and engine
  • Send in my paperwork to the FAA to obtain an Airworthiness Certificate

Labor Day Weekend

A rainy weekend but great temps.

Replaced the old hard line oil pressure line with a more modern hose. For my poor memory, I’m putting the hose and fitting part numbers below. The hose is 27″ in length. Cost for me to make the hose: $28.00 in parts. The ‘original’ hose was a solid line from the instrument, through the firewall, and connected to a rubber hose. I put in a firewall connector and connected each end of the two lines to this connector. This should keep any vibration issues with the hard line and the firewall feedthrough having no prior support, at a minimum.

Measuring the datum line for the main wheels, airplane leveled, datum line being the leading edge of the wing. This shows it around 1” forward of the datum point as it shows on the original weight and balance sheet and the Type Certificate Data Sheet.
