Horizontal Stab

After going over the horizontal stab several times I’ve decided to purchase a replacement. There is a lot of corrosion on the inside and it would require a full reskin and replacement of several ribs to do it right.  I found a good used one for $500 on Ebay and purchased it. The time and material to do a reskin would cost a lot more. I will pick it up on the way home from Oshkosh later this week.

I need to get it home in the back of the Honda Pilot so I did a test fit. No problem!

Close Tolerance Bolts

The Stinson uses close tolerance bolts in the control column. They don’t just pop right in.  The best way to get them to fit is to cold soak them. I used dry ice. Works wonders. Requires very little persuasion.
